Work 5tr into next tr, drop the loop from your hook,

working through top of first tr,

pick up dropped loop and pull through first tr.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Finished size approx: 4.5 Inches x 4.5 Inches

Materials

Small amounts of King Cole big value baby DK in 3 colours

Turquoise (018) colour 1, white (001) colour 2, mandarin (1684) colour 3

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION - 5tr and 2 rows of tr's measure approx 1 Inch

Granny Square - Worked in continuous rows without turning, using colour 1 make magic circle, work 3ch, 15tr into circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (15tr + 3ch)

Row 2 - Join in colour 2 with a ss to top of 3ch, make 3ch, work 4tr into base of 3ch, drop loop, insert hook into top of 3ch just made, pick up dropped loop and pull through, * make 1ch, 1pc into next tr, (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * to end, 1ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off. (16pc)

Row 3 - Join in colour 3 with a ss to any 1ch space, make 3ch, work 1tr into same space, 2tr into each of next 2, 1ch spaces, * (3tr, 1ch, 3tr) into next 1ch space, 2tr into each of next 3, 1ch spaces, * rpt from * to * twice, rpt between ( ) into next 1ch space, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.

Row 4 - Join in colour 2 with a ss to top of 3ch, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr around four sides of square, working (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into corners.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around four sides of square, working (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into corners. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in ends and trim.

Can be used for blankets, waistcoats, poncho's etc. make as many as you need for your project.
