Materials
300 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in white (001)
100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK
in shades of Mint (M), Peach (P) Lilac (L) and Lemon (LM)
OR
10.5oz of Light Worsted #3 Yarn in White (W)
3.5oz of Light Worsted #3 Yarn in shades of Mint (M), Peach (P) Lilac (L) and Lemon
(LM)
4.00mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks
GAUGE - 3, 3dc groups & 3 complete patterns measures approx. 2” square (5cm x 5cm)

Commence Blanket
With WS facing, (W) and using 5.00mm hook ch154, change to 4.00mm hook, 1sc in 2nd
ch from hook, * ch3, skip 3ch, 1sc in next ch * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (39sc)
Next Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1sc in ch3 space, 3dc in sc, * rpt from * to
* to last
ch space and sc, 1sc in ch space, 2dc in last sc. Turn. (37, 3dc groups + 2 halves)
Row 1 - With (M) ch1, 1sc in base of ch, * ch3, 1sc in centre dc of 3dc group, *
rpt from
* to * to last dc and ch3, ch3, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.
Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1sc in ch3 space, 3dc in sc, * rpt from * to *
to last ch space and sc, 1sc in ch space, 2dc in last sc. Turn.
The last 2 rows form the pattern, continue in pattern working 2 complete patterns
in (W) between each of the contrast colors until 51 complete patterns have been worked
in all or work measures approximately 32” from beginning, finishing with a (W) pattern.
(see color sequence below) Turn. Work Row 1 once. Turn.
W, M, W, W, P, W, W, L, W, W, LM, W
Afghan Edging
Working around all 4 sides of blanket and sl st to first stitch at the end of each
row.
Next Row - With RS facing, (W) and 4.00mm hook ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 2sc
in each ch space, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, 1sc in each row end
along side
of blanket, (52sc) 3sc in corner, work 2sc in each ch space and 1sc in each sc along
bottom of blanket, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each row end along side of blanket, (52sc)
2sc in corner sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - Working 3sc in each corner as you go, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in
each sc all around blanket, sl st to first sc. Rpt last row once.
Next Row - With (M) ch1, sl st in base of ch1, * 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc,
* rpt from
* to * all around blanket, sl st to ch1 at beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.
Next Row - With (W) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and sl st all around
blanket working 3sc in corner. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc all around blanket working 3sc
in each corner, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn.
Tassels
Using the same color sequence as in the blanket, cut 3 lengths of yarn approx 6”
long
(if you prefer a longer or a thicker tassel just add more length and more strips),
starting
from a corner attach tassels to both ends of afghan (top & bottom) and place them
in
every alternative sc. Trim tassels so they are even.
