400 grams of King Cole Melody in Strawberry (962)

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

TENSION - 3, 3tr groups & 4 complete patterns measure approx. 2” square (5cm x 5cm)

Commence Afghan

With WS facing and using 4.00mm hook make 154ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * 3ch,

miss 3ch, 1dc into next ch * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (39dc)

Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * 1dc into 3ch space, 3tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to

last ch space and dc, 1dc into ch space, 2tr into last dc. Turn. (37, 3tr groups + 2 halves)

Row 1 - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of ch, * 3ch, 1dc into centre tr of 3tr group, * rpt

from * to * to last tr and 3ch to turn, work 3ch, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Row 2 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * 1dc into 3ch space, 3tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to last

ch space and dc, 1dc into ch space, 2tr into last dc. Turn.

The last 2 rows form the pattern, continue in pattern until 51 complete patterns have been worked in all or work measures approximately 28” from beginning. Turn.

Afghan Edging - (WS) Using 4.50mm hook, work Row 1 from the pattern rows above to

3ch to turn at end of row, work 3dc into top of 3ch, continue by working down first side of blanket by working 1dc into each row end evenly along side of blanket, (102dc) 3dc into corner, work 2dc into each 3ch space and 1dc into each dc along bottom of blanket, 3dc

into corner, work 1dc into each row end evenly along second side of blanket, (102dc) 3dc

into corner, working along top of blanket work 2dc into each 3ch space and 1dc into each

Dc to last dc, 2dc into last dc, ss to first dc. Turn.

Next Row - Working 3dc into each corner as you go, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc

into each dc all around the four sides of the blanket, ss to first dc. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Next Row – 1ch, work (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, miss 2dc, * (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into next

dc, miss 2dc * rpt from * to * around four sides of blanket to end, ss to first dc at beginning

of row. Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, decorate with ribbon bows and rosebuds.
