50 grams of Patons 100% Cotton DK in Main colour

Small amount of Patons 100% Cotton DK in contrast

3.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks

TENSION - 11 stitches and 10 rows measures approx 2 x 2”

With 4.50mm hook and main colour make 38ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * 1ch,

miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into 1ch space, * 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 37 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx

7“ from beginning. Turn.

Edging - With 3.50mm hook, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and ch space

to last dc, 3dc into last dc, working into row ends and down the first side of cloth, work

35dc evenly along to next corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc and 1ch space along bottom of cloth to corner, 3dc into corner, working into row ends and up the side of the second side of cloth, work 35dc evenly along to next corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn. Work 2 more rows in dc, working 3dc into corners, slip stitching to first dc on the end of each row. Turn . Fasten off.

Join in contrast colour and work 2 more rows in dc, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc. Turn. Fasten off. Rejoin main colour and work 2 more rows in dc, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc. Turn.

Next Row - 3ch, * 2tr into base of 3ch, miss 2dc, ss into next dc, 3ch, * rpt from * to *

around all four sides of cloth, ss to base of first 3ch. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew and tie off all loose ends of cotton.
