Abbreviations

WS.       Wrong Side

RS.        Right Side

dc.        Double Crochet

tr.          Treble Crochet

rpt.        Repeat

ss.         Slip Stitch


Shell.  5tr into same stitch


tr5tog.  Leaving last loop of each tr on hook,

work 5tr into next stitch, yrh and pull through all loops.


trf.   Treble Crochet Forward


On the last main colour row worked, work tr around the dc directly below the contrast colour row,

by inserting hook horizontally under the dc.


Approx size:  63” long x 23” wide


Materials

750 grams of King Cole big value DK in  natural (046) main colour

100 grams of King Cole big value DK in caramel (086) contrast

5.50mm, 4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


TENSION - 2 shell groups and 4 rows measures approx 2” x 2”

With 5.50mm hook make 68ch loosely, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, (RS) 1dc into each

ch to end. Turn. (67dc)


Next Row - Change to 4.00mm hook, make 4ch, (counts as first stitch) * miss 2dc,

1 shell (see abbrev) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, miss 2dc, 1dtr into last dc.

Turn. (21, 5tr Shell groups).


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1 shell into centre tr of next shell, 1dc into the

space between shells, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc into top of 4ch. Turn.


Pattern Row 1 - 4ch, 1 shell into centre tr on each shell to end, 1dtr into dc. Turn.

(21 Shell groups)


Pattern Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1 shell into centre tr of next shell, 1dc into

the space between shells, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc into top of 4ch. Turn.


Pattern Rows 1 & 2 form the pattern, continue with both pattern rows until 66 complete patterns have been worked in all or work measures approx 62” from beginning. Turn.


Edging - Using 5.50mm hook make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work * 3ch, 1dc into

centre tr on shell, * rpt from * to * to last shell, 3ch, 1dc into dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 2dc into 3ch space, 1dc into dc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc, 3dc into last dc, working down the first side of runner and into row ends,

work 200dc evenly along to end. Fasten off. With RS facing, work 200dc evenly along into row ends on second side of runner. Turn.


Next Row - Change to 4.50mm hook, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around four sides of runner, working 3dc into all corners, ss to first dc. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row – With WS facing, join contrast colour yarn to corner, 1ch, 1dc into base of

1ch, * tr5tog (see abbrev) into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * around four sides

of runner to end, ss to first dc. Turn. Fasten off.  


Next Row - Rejoin main colour yarn to top of first tr5tog, 1ch, 1dc into same stitch, * trf

(see abbrev) around dc on row below contrast colour row, 1dc into top of tr5tog, * rpt

from * to * around four sides of runner to end, ss to first dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch around four sides of runner to end, working 3dc into all corners, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends of yarn.
