Abbreviations

WS.     Wrong Side

RS.      Right Side

ch.       Chain

sc.       Single Crochet

dc.       Double Crochet

rpt.      Repeat

sl st.    Slip Stitch


dc5tog.  

Leaving last loop of each dc on hook,

work 5dc in next stitch,  yo, draw through all 6 loops.


ch3 counts as first dc

Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in main colour

50 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in contrast colour


OR

3.5oz of Worsted Weight in Main Color

1.75oz of Worsted Weight in Contrast Color

5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


GAUGE - 7dc and 2.5 rows of dc's measures approx 1 Inch square

Bonnet - With 4.00mm hook and main color, ch6, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch3,

work 11dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (11dc + ch3)

 

Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on

beginning of row. Turn. (23dc + ch3)

 

Row 3 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt

from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (35dc + ch3)

 

Row 4 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each

of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (47dc + ch3)


Row 5 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each

of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (59dc + ch3)


Row 6 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

(59dc + ch3)


Row 7 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to last 4dc, turn leaving 4dc un-worked. Fasten off.

(55dc + ch3)


Next Row - Join in contrast color ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next dc, * dc5tog in next

dc, 1sc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, dc5tog in next dc, 1sc in next dc, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. Fasten off. (18, dc5tog)


Pattern Row 1 - Join in main color yarn, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end. Turn. (56sc)


Pattern Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in each sc to end. Turn. (55dc + ch3)

 

Pattern Row 3 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. Fasten off. (56sc)


Pattern Row 4 - Join in contrast color ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next sc, * dc5tog in

next sc, 1sc in each of next 2sc, * rpt from * to * to last 3sc, dc5tog in next sc, 1sc in each

of last 2sc. Turn. Fasten off. (18, dc5tog)


Pattern Rows 1 to 4 form the pattern rpt rows once, then Pattern Rows 1 to 3.

Do Not Fasten off. Turn.


Front of Bonnet and Neck Edge - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc

in last sc, working in row ends, work sc evenly along neck edge to end, 1sc in base of ch1,

sl st to first sc. Turn.


Next Row - Working along neck edge only, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.


Chain Tie - With 4.00mm hook and main color yarn, ch100. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, thread the Chain Tie through

alternate gaps in the stitches along the neck edge, make 2 small pom-pom's in contrast

color (I used the Clover Pom-Pom maker) and sew one to each end of chain tie and

make a bow.
