Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Scarf: 45 Inches x 4 Inches

Hat: 14 Inch circumference

Materials

110 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn

5.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hook

TENSION - 1.5 groups and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Scarf - Using 5.50mm hook, make 192ch, change to 5.00mm hook and work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 3tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, miss 2ch, 2tr into last ch. Turn. (62, 3tr groups)

Pattern Row 1 - 1ch 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, miss 2tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, work 3tr into each 2ch space to end, 2tr into last dc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 twice more. DNT.

Border - Make 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, work 10dc evenly into row ends down first side of scarf to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, 10dc evenly into row ends up second side of scarf to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each tr along to next corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around four sides of scarf working 3dc into each of the 3 corners, 1dc into last corner and ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave any loose ends of yarn.

Hat - Using 5.00mm hook make 71ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (70dc)

Next Row - 3ch 1tr into base of 3ch, * miss 2dc, 3tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, miss 2dc, 2tr into last dc. Turn. (22, 3tr groups)

Pattern Row 1 - 1ch 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, miss 2tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, work 3tr into each 2ch space to end, 2tr into last dc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 seven more times or until work measures approx 7 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Fold hat in half width ways and with WS facing, ss cast on edge together loosely by working through both sides. Fasten off.

Tie 1 - Make 60ch. Fasten off. (will come back too)

Tie 2 - Make 61ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of the next 59ch, join tie to hat by working 56dc evenly into row ends along WS of the neck edge, join in tie 1 (made earlier) and work 1dc into each of the 60ch. Fasten off. (176dc)

Finishing

Weave in loose ends of ties to main piece on hat, Weave in any other loose ends of yarn, turn through to RS and make a bow with the ties.
