5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch using 4.00mm hook

Placemat - With 5.00mm hook and main color, ch45, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next ch, * skip 2ch, 5dc in next ch, skip 2ch, 1dc in each of next 3ch's, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (5, 5dc groups)

Pattern Row 1 - ch3, 3dc in next dc, * skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, skip next 2dc,
5dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last (5dc group, 2 single dc's and ch3), skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, skip 2dc, work 3dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * skip 2dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 23 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Work Pattern Row 1 once. Turn.

Edging - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each dc to ch3 to turn, 3dc in top of ch3, working down first side of placemat, work 2dc in each row end to corner, 3dc in corner, 1dc in each ch along cast on edge to next corner, 3dc in corner, work 2dc in each row end up second side of placemat, 1dc in base of ch3, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Coaster - With 5.00mm hook and main color, ch21, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next ch, * skip 2ch, 5dc in next ch, skip 2ch, 1dc in each of next 3ch's, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (2, 5dc groups)

Rpt Pattern Row 1 & 2 until 7 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Work Pattern Row 1 once. Turn.

Edging - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each dc to ch3 to turn, 3dc in top of ch3, working down first side of coaster, work 2dc in each row end to corner, 3dc in corner, 1dc in each ch along cast on edge to corner, 3dc in corner, work 2dc in each row end up second side of coaster, 1dc in base of ch3, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Flower Motif - (Make 4 for placemat and 1 for coaster) Made in continuous rounds without turning. Using main color yarn, make a magic circle, With 4.00mm hook ch1, work 12sc in circle, pull loose thread to close circle, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join in contrast color yarn with a sl st, * work 4dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, work 4dc in last sc, sl st to first sl st. Fasten off. (6, 4dc groups)
 
Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends, sew 4 flower motifs onto the placemat and 1 flower motif to a corner on the coaster.
