Approx size: 14.5” wide x 10”


Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in each colour

(I used White 001, Sky 005  & Blush 223)

4.00mm, 4.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks

1 medium Toggle Button


TENSION - 6dc and 7 rows of dc measures approx 1” square

Nappy Bag - With 5.00mm hook and white colour yarn, make 100ch, change to 4.50mm hook and work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, 2dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to

last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (98dc)


Pattern Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.


The last row forms the pattern, rpt Pattern Row in colour sequence as follows:-

6 rows in Sky

2 rows in White

6 rows in Blush

2 rows in White

Rpt from # # to # # three more times, followed by 6 rows in sky and 1 row in white.

Turn.


Work Pattern Row to last dc, 3dc into last dc, working into row ends down first side of bag, work 1dc into each row end to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each cast on ch along to end, 3dc into last ch, 1dc into each row end up second side of bag. Turn.


Flap - Work Pattern Row once in white coloured yarn over next 72dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, ss over next 3dc, 1ch, 1dc into base of ch, miss 1dc, work


Pattern Row to last 3dc, 1dc into next dc, turn leaving 2dc un-worked. Fasten off.


Using 4.00mm hook, Join in sky coloured yarn and work Pattern Row 30 more times. Fasten off. Turn. (72dc)


Buttonhole Band - Miss 26dc, re-join sky coloured yarn to next dc, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, Pattern Row across 18dc, 1dc into next dc, turn leaving 26dc un-worked.

Turn. (20dc) Work Pattern Row once. Turn.


Buttonhole - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc across next 8dc, 2ch, miss 3dc, 1dc into

each of next 9dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. Working 2dc into 2ch loop, work Pattern Row

twice more. Fasten off.


Edge Flap & Buttonhole Band

With RS facing, starting on row ends at top of flap with white coloured yarn and 4.00mm hook, (see diagram below) ss to main piece, work 1dc into each row end to corner, 3dc

into corner, 1dc into each of next 25dc to buttonhole band, 1dc into each row end up side

of buttonhole band, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along top, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down side of buttonhole band, 1dc into each of next 25dc along to corner,

3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up side of flap to end, ss to main piece. Turn. Working 3dc into all corners, work one more row in dc to end, ss to main piece. Fasten off.












Strap - With 5.00mm hook and White coloured yarn, make 251ch, change to 4.50mm

hook, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, 2dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Fasten off. Turn. (250dc)


Rpt Pattern Rows as follows:-


4 more times in blush.

Once more in White. Turn.


Strap Edging - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into dc to end, 1dc into each row end down side of strap, 1dc into each of the starting ch, 1dc into each row end up second side of bag, ss to first dc. Fasten off. Place a different coloured marker on each side of strap, approx 46dc from each end. (See diagram below)














Finishing - Attach strap by slip stitching though dc's on bag and strap, working from first marker around to the second marker. Sew and tie off loose ends of yarn, attach toggle button on bag to correspond with buttonhole.
