Pull up loop from next 2tr, yrh and pull through all loops.


Base of ch. Work into first stitch


3ch counts as first tr


Size to fit approx:  18 Inch Chest 3-6 Month Baby


Coat: Finished length from shoulder 10.5 Inches

Sleeve length from under arm 5 Inches


Materials

115 grams of King Cole Melody DK Yarn in Colour 1

20 grams of King Cole big value baby DK Yarn in Colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook, 5 buttons


TENSION - 5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Hooded Jacket (Made from yoke downwards) -

With 4.00mm hook and colour 1, make 57ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch, (front) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 19ch, (back) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62tr + 3ch)

 

Row 2 - Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch.

 

Continue increasing into the centre of the 3tr groups in the same way as the last row until 10 rows have been worked in all. (134tr + 3ch).

 

Row 11 - (Divide for Armholes) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 17tr, 2tr into next tr, miss 28tr (armhole) 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 39tr, 2tr into next tr, miss 28tr (armhole) 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 17tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (82tr + 3ch)


Row 12 to 20 - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off at the end of Row 20.


Sleeves x 2 - Join colour 1 to side of tr underarm, make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 28tr, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (29tr + 3ch)


Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row until 9 rows have been worked in all from yoke. Fasten off. Turn.


Cuff - With WS facing join colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc. Turn.


Decrease Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, * dec 1dc (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc into each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (24dc)


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn.


Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS facing, join colour 1 to neck edge on right front with ss, 1dc into each ch around neck to last ch, ss into ch, work 2ss into each row end down front edge to corner, 1ch, 1dc into each tr along bottom of jacket, ss into top of 3ch, 2ss into each row end up front edge to corner, ss into corner, ss to first ss on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in colour 2 to first ss, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ss down first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of jacket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ss up second front to neck edge. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc down first front, along bottom of jacket and up second front, working 3dc into corners. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc in next 9dc, * rpt from * to * three more times, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of jacket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc to neck edge. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch space around jacket fronts and bottom, working 3dc into the corners. Fasten off.


Hood - With colour 1, make 55ch loosely, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, (RS) 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (52tr + 3ch)


Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into each ch to end, tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Rpt last row until 12 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off.


Front Edge - Using colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 3 more rows in dc turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.


With WS facing, fold hood in half width ways and ss or over sew with needle and yarn cast on edges together.


With RS facing re-join colour 1 to neck edge on hood, starting with 1ch, work 56dc evenly along to end. Fasten off. Turn.


Attaching Hood to Jacket - Working on WS and missing button/buttonhole bands on both sides, attach hood to jacket by over sewing with needle and yarn or ss through back loop on jacket and front loop on hood. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gaps underarms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
