3.5oz of Worsted Weight Yarn in Main Color
1.75oz of Worsted Weight Yarn in Contrast Color
5.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks, 1 mtr of 9mm wide gingham ribbon
GAUGE - 5sc and 5 rows of sc measures approx 1 Inch Square

Tote Bag - (starting at top and worked downwards) With 5.00mm hook and contrast
color yarn, ch102, sl st to first ch to make a ring change to 4.50mm hook, making sure
the ch length does not twist as you go work 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each ch to
end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (102sc)
Row 2 - 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. Rpt last
row once.
Row 4 - (Eyelet Holes) 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in next sc, * 2ch, skip 1sc, 1sc in
each of next 4sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, work 1sc in last 1sc, sl st to first sc on
beginning of row. Turn.
Row 5 - 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each 2ch space and sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (102sc) Rpt Row 2 three more times. Fasten off.
Commence with base Using main color yarn, rpt Row 2 four more times. Turn.
Pattern Row 1 - Working in back loop of stitch only ch3, 1dc in each sc to end, sl st to
top of 3ch on beginning of row. (101dc + 3ch)
Pattern Row 2 - Working through both loops ch3, 1dc in next dc, dcb (see abbrev above)
in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, dcb in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of
3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Pattern Row 3 - 3ch, dcf (see abbrev above) in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, dcf
in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc in last dc, sl st to top of 3ch on beginning of row.
Turn.
Pattern Row 4 - 3ch, 1dc in next dc, dcb in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, dcb in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Pattern Row 5 - Working in back loop of stitch only ch1, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each
dc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (102sc)
Pattern Rows 6-8 - Working through both loops work 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.
The last eight rows form the pattern, rpt rows until work measures approx 13.5 inches in all from beginning. Turn.
Starting each row with 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch and turning at the end of each row, work four more rows in sc.
With WS facing, place seam on the side of bag and using 5.00mm hook, slip stitch bottom of bag together working through both sides of sc's to close open seam, ch1. Fasten off.
(51 slip stitches)
Return to cast on edge, with RS facing, using 4.50mm hook and contrast color yarn, work 1ch, 1sc in each ch to end, sl st to first sc. Work row of crab stitch (see abbrev above) in sc's. Fasten off.
Strap - With main color yarn and 5.00mm hook ch150, work 3sc in 2nd ch from hook,
1sc in each ch to last ch, 6sc in last ch, working along opposite side of starting ch, work
1sc in each ch to last ch, 3sc in last ch, sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 2sc in each of next 3sc, 1sc in each of next 147sc, 2sc in each of next
6sc, 1sc in each of next 147sc, 2sc in each of next 3sc, sl st to first sc. Turn. Fasten off.
Next Row - Join in contrast color yarn, ch1, (2sc in next sc, 1sc in next sc), three times,
1sc in each of next 149sc, (2sc in next sc, 1sc in next sc), five times, 1sc in each of next 149sc, (2sc in next sc, 1sc in next sc) twice, sl st to first sc.
Work one row of crab stitch. Fasten off.
Finishing- Sew in and tie off loose ends, thread ribbon through eyelet holes around top
of bag and tie in a bow. With RS facing tack strap to each side of the top of the bag with a needle and yarn.
