Approx size:- 12” Square

Materials

Oddments of Patons 100% Cotton DK in 3 colours (your choice)

Oddments of 100% Worsted Weight Cotton or Worsted Weight yarn

in 3 colours of your choice

5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hook

GAUGE - 3, 3dc groups and 4 rows measures approx 2” x 2”

Granny Square - (Made in rounds without turning) With 5.00mm hook and colour 1, ch5,

join with a sl st to form a ring, Change to 4.00mm hook, ch3, 2dc, ch2 in ring, * work 3dc,

ch2 in ring, * rpt from * to * twice more, sl st to top of 3ch.

Next Row - sl st across to first corner, 3ch, (2dc, 2ch, 3dc) in same corner, * 1ch, skip

3dc, (3dc, 2ch, 3dc) in next corner * rpt from * to * to end, 1ch, skip 3dc, sl st to top of 3ch. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join colour 2 to any corner, ch3, (2dc, 2ch, 3dc) in same corner, * 1ch, skip

3dc, 3dc in next 1ch space, (3dc, 2ch, 3dc) in next corner * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, 3dc in 1ch space, 1ch, skip 3dc, sl st to top of 3ch.

Next Row - sl st across to first corner, 3ch, (2dc, 2ch, 3dc) in same corner, * 1ch, skip 3dc, 3dc in next 1ch space, skip 3dc, 3dc in next 1ch space, (3dc, 2ch, 3dc) in next corner

* rpt from * to * to end, 1ch, skip 3dc, sl st to top of 3ch. (Size automatically increases as

you go around). Fasten off.

Join colour 3 to any corner, Rpt last row twice, (again square will increase as you go around). Fasten off.

Joining each new colour yarn to any corner, rpt rows in same way in colour sequence as follows:-

3 rows in colour 1. Fasten off

3 rows in colour 2. Fasten off.

2 rows in colour 3. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join in colour 1 to any corner, 2ch, (2hdc, 2ch, 2hdc) in same corner, work

1hdc in each dc and 1ch space around all four sides of square, working (3hdc, 2ch, 3hdc)

in each corner, sl st to top of 2ch on beginning of row.

Next Row - 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each hdc around all four sides of square,

working 3sc in all corners, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends.

Use Granny Square’s for dish/wash cloths, placemats, coasters or make several

squares and sl st together to make blankets etc, they have multi uses only fuelled

by your imagination.
