3ch counts as first tr, 2ch counts as first htr

Approx size:- 12” Square

Materials

Oddments of Patons 100% Cotton DK in 3 colours (your choice)

5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hook

TENSION - 3, 3tr groups and 4 rows measures approx 2” x 2”

Granny Square - (Made in rounds without turning) With 5.00mm hook and colour 1,

make 5ch, join with a ss to form a ring, Change to 4.00mm hook, make 3ch, 2tr, 2ch into

ring, * work 3tr, 2ch into ring, * rpt from * to * twice more, ss to top of 3ch.

Next Row - ss across to first corner, 3ch, (2tr, 2ch, 3tr) into same corner, * 1ch, miss

3tr, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into next corner * rpt from * to * to end, 1ch, miss 3tr, ss to top of 3ch. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join colour 2 to any corner, make 3ch, (2tr, 2ch, 3tr) into same corner,

* 1ch, miss 3tr, 3tr into next 1ch space, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into next corner * rpt from * to * to

last 1ch space, 3tr into 1ch space, 1ch, miss 3tr, ss to top of 3ch.

Next Row - ss across to first corner, 3ch, (2tr, 2ch, 3tr) into same corner, * 1ch, miss

3tr, 3tr into next 1ch space, miss 3tr, 3tr into next 1ch space, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into next

corner * rpt from * to * to end, 1ch, miss 3tr, ss to top of 3ch. (Size automatically

increases as you go around). Fasten off.

Join colour 3 to any corner, Rpt last row twice, (again square will increase as you

go around) Fasten off.

Joining each new colour yarn to any corner, rpt rows into same way in colour sequence

as follows:-

3 rows in colour 1. Fasten off

3 rows in colour 2. Fasten off.

2 rows in colour 3. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join in colour 1 to any corner, 2ch, (2htr, 2ch, 2htr) into same corner, work

1htr into each tr and 1ch space around all four sides of square, working (3htr, 2ch, 3htr)

into each corner, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row.

Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr around all four sides of square, working 3dc into all corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends.

Use Granny Square’s for dish/wash cloths, placemats, coasters or make several

squares and ss together to make blankets etc, they have multi uses only fuelled by

your imagination.
