RS. Right Side

sc. Single Crochet

hdc. Half Double Crochet

dc. Double Crochet

rpt. Repeat

sl st. Slip Stitch

ch2 counts as first hdc

ch3 counts as first dc

Finished size approx:- 9” x 9”

Materials

1oz of Worsted Weight Yarn in each of

Colors 1,2 & 3

G (4.50mm) crochet hook

GAUGE - 9hdc and 7 Rows measures approx 2” x 2”

Decorative Mat - (RS) With G (4.50mm) hook and color 1, ch12 loosely, 1hdc in 3rd

ch from hook, 1hdc in each ch to end. Turn. (10hdc +ch2)

Next Row - ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to last ch2, 1hdc in top of ch2. Turn. Rpt last row

7 more times, making 9 rows in all. Turn.

Edging - ch2, 1hdc in base of ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to last ch2, 3hdc in top of ch2,

working down the side mat and in row ends work 9hdc evenly along to next corner, 3hdc

in corner, 1hdc in each of 9ch along bottom of mat, 3hdc in corner, working up the second side mat and in row ends work 9hdc evenly along to next corner, 1hdc in base of ch2,

sl st to top of ch2 on beginning of row. Turn. Work one more row in hdc in the same way, working around all four sides of mat and working 3hdc in corners. Fasten off.

Change to color 2, work three more rows in hdc, working around all four sides of mat and working 3hdc in corners, sl st to top of ch2 on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Change to color 3 and work two more rows in hdc, working around all four sides of mat

and working 3hdc in corners, sl st to top of ch2 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Change to color 2, work one row in hdc, working around all four sides of mat and working 3hdc in corners, sl st to top of ch2 on beginning of row.

Next Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each hdc around four sides of mat, working

3sc in corners, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Next Row - Change to color 1, work ch3, (2dc, ch3, sl st to top of dc at base of ch3, 2dc)

all in the sc below the first ch3, * skip 1sc, 1sc in next sc, skip 1sc, (3dc, ch3, sl st to dc

at base of ch3, 2dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * around four sides of mat to end, sl st to top

of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends of yarn.
