Abbreviations

WS. Wrong Side

RS. Right Side

dc. Double Crochet

htr. Half Treble Crochet

tr. Treble Crochet

rpt. Repeat

ss. Slip Stitch

2ch counts as first htr

3ch counts as first tr

Finished size approx:- 9” x 9”

Materials

25 grams of DK in each of Colours 1,2 & 3

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION - 9htr and 7 Rows measures approx 2” x 2”

Decorative Mat - (RS) With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 12ch loosely, 1htr into

3rd ch from hook, 1htr into each ch to end. Turn. (10htr +2ch)

Next Row - 2ch, 1htr into each htr to last 2ch, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn. Rpt last row

7 more times, making 9 rows in all. Turn.

Edging - Make 2ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each htr to last 2ch, 3htr into top of

2ch, working down the side mat and into row ends work 9htr evenly along to next corner,

3htr into corner, 1htr into each of 9ch along bottom of mat, 3htr into corner, working up the second side mat and into row ends work 9htr evenly along to next corner, 1htr into base of 2ch, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. Turn. Work one more row in htr in the same way, working around all four sides of mat and working 3htr into corners. Fasten off.

Change to colour 2, work three more rows in htr, working around all four sides of mat and working 3htr into corners, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Change to colour 3 and work two more rows in htr, working around all four sides of mat and working 3htr into corners, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Change to colour 2, work one row in htr, working around all four sides of mat and working

3htr into corners, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row.

Next Row - 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr around four sides of mat, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Next Row - Change to colour 1, work 3ch, (2tr, 3ch, ss to top of tr at base of 3ch, 2tr) all

into the dc below the first 3ch, * miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, miss 1dc, (3tr, 3ch, ss to tr at base of 3ch, 2tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * around four sides of mat to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends of yarn.
