Materials

50 grams of Double Knitting Yarn in Main

Oddment of Double Knitting Yarn in Contrast

5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


TENSION - 9htr and 6 rows of htr’s measures approx 2” x 2”

Sewing Kit - With 5.00mm hook and main colour yarn, make 21ch loosely, change

to 4.00mm hook, work 1htr into 4th ch from hook, 1htr into each of next 15ch, 2htr into

next ch, 8htr into last ch, working along opposite side on cast on ch, work 2htr into next

ch, 1htr into each of next 16ch, 1htr into base of 3ch from beginning of row. Turn.

(45htr + 2ch)


Row 2 – (Inside of Kit) 2ch, 1htr into each of next 20htr, 2htr into each of next 4htr, 1htr

into each of next 20htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn. (49htr + 2ch)


Row 3 - 2ch, 1htr into each of next 21htr, 2htr into each of next 6htr, 1htr into each of

next 21htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn. (55htr + 2ch)


Row 4 - 2ch, 1htr into next 23htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into next htr * rpt from * to * three more times, 1htr into next 23htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn. (59htr + 2ch)


Row 5 - 2ch, 1htr into next 24htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into next htr * rpt from * to * four more times, 1htr into next 24htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn. (64htr + 2ch)


Row 6 - 2ch, 1htr into next 26htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into next htr * rpt from * to * four more times, 2htr into next htr, 1htr into each of next 26htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Turn.

(70htr + 2ch)


Row 7 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to 2ch to turn on the end of row,

(70dc) 3dc into top of 2ch. Work 13dc evenly across the bottom of kit, 1dc into the base

of the first dc, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Pockets - Using main colour and 4.00mm hook make 16ch loosely, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (15dc) Work 13 more rows in dc on these stitches making 14 rows in all. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to last dc, 3dc into last dc, working down the side of pocket work 1dc into each row to corner, (13dc) 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of pocket to next corner, (13dc) 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end to last corner, (13dc) 1dc into base of dc, ss to dc. Turn. Fasten off.


With contrast colour and 4.00mm hook, re-join yarn to centre dc on corner at beginning

of row, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 16dc across row. Turn. Fasten off. Join in main colour and work one more row in dc on these 17dc. Fasten off. Sew in and tie off all

loose ends of yarn.


Using main colour, with inside of main piece facing you and curve at the top, place the pocket square onto the bottom half, lining up the three straight sides, ss main piece and pocket together by working through centre stitch on both pieces up to top of pocket to

split pocket into 2 compartments.


Chain Ties and Edging

(First tie) Using contrast colour, make 31ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to

end, with inside of kit facing and curve edge downwards, (work through the 2dc, (1dc on main, 1dc on pocket) to seal pocket to the main piece), starting from centre dc on bottom straight edge, work 1dc into each dc to corner, 3dc into corner, continue to work through

both pieces and work 1dc into each of next 35dc to centre of curve, (second tie) make

31ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end, ss into same dc, 1dc into each of next 35dc to corner (joining second half of pocket and main piece as you go), 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of remaining dc, ss to first dc around the back of chain tie. Turn. Fasten off.


Rejoin main colour and work one more row of dc working 3dc into corners and ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Motif - 4ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, 2ch, work 9dc into ring, ss to top of 2ch.

(9dc +2ch) Fasten off.


Join in contrast colour, 1ch, work (2tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, ss in next dc, * work (1dc, 2tr, 1dc) into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc. (5 Groups made) Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, attach motif to front of rounded end

on sewing kit, decorate with a rosebud. Fill kit with cottons, tape measure, safety pins, sewing needles and scissors etc.
