Cowl - 13 inches x 5.5 inches

Materials

110 grams of Stylecraft special DK in Wisteria (1432)

6.00mm & 5.50mm crochet hooks

3 decorative buttons

TENSION - 4htr and 3 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 5.50mm hook

Cowl - With 5.50mm hook make 105ch, ss to first ch to form a ring

Next Row - 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 2ch, (1dc, 2tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss last 2ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (35 groups)

Pattern Row - 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr, miss last 2tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 15 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr and dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn. (105dc) Work one more row of dc. Fasten off.

Return and join yarn to cast on edge, work 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (105dc) Work one more row of dc. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim, attach decorative buttons.

Beanie - (Made in continues rounds without turning to brim) - With 5.50mm hook make 6ch, ss into 1st ch to form a ring, (RS) 2ch, work 13htr into ring, ss to top 2ch on beginning of row. (13htr + 2ch)

2nd Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 2htr into each htr to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. (27htr + 2ch)

3rd Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into next htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into next htr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. (42htr + 2ch)

4th Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each of next 2htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into each of next 2htr * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. (55htr + 2ch)

5th Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each of next 3htr, * 2htr into next htr, 1htr into each of next 3htr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. (68htr + 2ch)

Your work will look frilled at this point because of the increasing.

6-21st Row - 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row.

Brim - Using 6.00mm hook, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (69dc)

Working into back loop of stitch only for this row make 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss last 2dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (23 groups)

Working through both loops of stitch from now on, Work Pattern Row from cowl until 8 rows have been worked in all for brim. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave starting thread around hole on crown and pull gently to close, weave in all other loose ends of yarn, trim all ends. Fold brim back onto front of beanie, attach decorative buttons.
