Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby Double Knitting

6.00mm, 5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks, 1 Medium Sized Button


TENSION - 4tr and 2 rows of tr measures approx 1 Inch

Headband - With 6.00mm hook make 14ch, change to 5.00mm hook, (RS) work

1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (13dc)


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Pattern Row 1 - # # Working into back loop of stitch only make 3ch, 1tr into each dc

to end. (12tr + 3ch)


Pattern Row 2 - Working through both loops make 3ch, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, trb

(see abbrev above) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, 1tr into

each of last 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Pattern Row 3 - 3ch, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, trf (see abbrev above) into next tr, * rpt

from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, 1tr into each of last 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Pattern Row 4 - 3ch, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, trb into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr

and 3ch to turn with, 1tr into each of last 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Pattern Row 5 - Working into back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch,

1dc into each tr to end, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. Working through both loops work three more rows in dc starting with 1ch and turning at the end of each row. # #


Rpt from # # to # # six more times, making seven complete patterns in all. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 4 once. Working into back loop of stitch only and starting with 1ch, work one row of dc. Turn. Working through both loops rpt last row.


Fold headband in half and with WS facing ss cast on edge and last row of dc together to make a circle. Fasten off.


Outside Edge x 2 - With RS facing and 4.00mm hook rejoin yarn to first stitch after

seam, working into row ends and starting with 1ch, work 80dc evenly around to end, ss

to first dc. Turn. Starting with 1ch, work one more row of dc, ss to first dc. Fasten off.

Rpt last 2 rows for second side of headband.


Flower Motif - Made in rounds without turning, with 4.00mm hook make 4ch, ss to 1st ch

to make a ring, 1ch, work 10dc into ring, ss to first dc.


Round 2 - 1ch, 2dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. (20dc)


Round 3 - 6ch, 1tr into base of 6ch, * miss 1dc, (1tr, 3ch, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to 3rd of 6ch. (10, 3ch spaces)


Round 4 - 1ch, * (1dc, 1htr, 4tr, 1htr, 1dc) into next 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to end,

ss to first dc. Fasten off. (10 Groups)


Covered Button - With 3.50mm hook, make 8ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into

each ch to end. Turn. (7dc)


Work 5 more rows in dc on these stitches, making 6 rows in all, fasten off leaving a long length of yarn (enough to gather and attach to flower with.


Thread yarn evenly all around four sides through dc's, place medium sizes button in center and gather around it tightly, secure so that button cannot break free.


Finishing - Attach covered button over centre hole, sew in and tie off loose ends.
