Materials

30 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in main colour

Small amount King Cole big value baby DK in contrast colour

1.10oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn in Main Color

Small amount of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn

in Contrast Color

4.00mm crochet hook

GAUGE - 5dc and 4 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch

Pixie Hat Rim - With 4.00mm hook, ch5, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (4sc)

Next Row - working in back loop of stitch from now on for rim only, work ch1, 1sc in base

of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row 47 more times until 49 rows have been worked in all.

Main Piece

Working along the side of the rim, (RS) ch3, work 1dc in each row end to end. Turn. Fasten off. (48dc + ch3)

Pattern Row 1 - Join in contrast color yarn, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1trc in next dc, 1sc

in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.

Pattern Row 2 - Re-join main color yarn, work ch3, 1dc in each trc and sc to end. Turn. Fasten off. (48dc + ch3)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 four more times each or until work measures approx 4.5 inches.

Fold hat in half width ways and with WS facing, using main color yarn sl st loosely through both sides of dc's to close back seam. Fasten off.

Ties - With 4.00mm hook and main color yarn ch60. Fasten off. (will come back too)

Again using main color yarn and 4.00mm hook, ch61, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in

each of the next 59ch, work 42sc evenly in row ends along WS of the neck edge on hat, return to 60ch made earlier, work 1sc in each of the 60ch. Fasten off. (162sc)

Finishing

Sew in loose ends on ties to main piece on hat, sew in and tie off any loose threads of yarn. Turn through to RS.

Make a medium sized pom-pom (I used Clover Pom-Pom Maker size 45) and attach to

the top of the point at the back you created when you slip stitched back seam together

(see main picture above).
