Materials

30 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in main colour

Small amount King Cole big value baby DK in contrast colour

4.00mm crochet hook

TENSION - 5tr and 4 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch

Pixie Hat Rim - With 4.00mm hook, make 5ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each

ch to end. Turn. (4dc)

Next Row - working into back loop of stitch from now on for rim only, work 1ch, 1dc into

base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row 47 more times until 49 rows have been worked in all.

Main Piece

Working along the side of the rim, (RS) make 3ch, work 1tr into each row end to end. Turn. Fasten off. (48tr + 3ch)

Pattern Row 1 - Join in contrast colour yarn, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into

next tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.

Pattern Row 2 - Re-join main colour yarn, work 3ch, 1tr into each dtr and dc to end. Turn. Fasten off. (48tr + 3ch)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 four more times each or until work measures approx 4.5 inches.

Fold hat in half width ways and with WS facing, using main colour yarn ss loosely through both sides of tr's to close back seam. Fasten off.

Ties - With 4.00mm hook and main colour yarn make 60ch. Fasten off. (will come back too)

Again using main colour yarn and 4.00mm hook, make 61ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook,

1dc into each of the next 59ch, work 42dc evenly into row ends along WS of the neck edge on hat, return to 60ch made earlier, work 1dc into each of the 60ch. Fasten off. (162dc)

Finishing

Sew in loose ends on ties to main piece on hat, sew in and tie off any loose threads of yarn. Turn through to RS.

Make a medium sized pom-pom (I used Clover Pom-Pom Maker size 45) and attach to

the top of the point at the back you created when you slip stitched back seam together

(see main picture above).
