Approximate Sizes:

Tea Cosy to fit: 4 Cup Teapot

Placemat: 12.5” x 10.5”

Coaster:    5” x 5”


Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in White (001) main

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in  Blush (233) contrast


OR

3.5oz of Baby Light Worsted Yarn in White

3.5oz in Baby Light Worsted Yarn Contrast Color

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


GAUGE - 10sc and 9 rows of sc measures approximately 2“ x 2“ (5cm x 5cm)

Placemat - With 4.50mm hook and main color yarn ch48, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS) 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (47sc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end.

Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to

end. Turn. Rpt last row twice in main color. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in contrast color. Turn.


The last four rows form the pattern color sequence, rpt Patterns Rows as set in

sequence until 80 rows have been worked in all, work three more sc rows in main color making 83 rows in all. DNT.


Placemat Edging - With RS facing using 4.00mm hook, main color and working

down side of placemat in row ends, work ch1, 1sc in each main color row end to corner. Turn. (63sc) Starting with ch1 and working through both loops of stitch from now on, work two more rows of 1sc in each sc on these stitches turning at the end of each row.

Fasten off. Rejoin main color yarn on corner, rpt edge the same on second side.

DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Turn.


Next Row - With WS facing work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc,

3sc in last sc, work 1sc in next row end, 1sc in each chain along cast on edge, 1sc in row end, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc to end, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in row end, work 1sc in each sc to end, work 1sc in row end, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.


Coaster - With 4.50mm hook and main color yarn ch18, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS)

1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (17sc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end.

Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to

end. Turn.  Rpt last row twice in main color. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in

contrast color. Turn.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 24 rows have been worked in all, work

three more sc rows in main color making 27 rows in all. DNT.


Coaster Edging - With RS facing using 4.00mm hook, main color and working down

side of placemat in row ends, work ch1, 1sc in each main color row end to corner. Turn. (21sc) Starting with ch1 and working through both loops of stitch from now on, work two more rows of 1sc in each sc on these stitches turning at the end of each row. Fasten off. Rejoin main color yarn on corner, rpt edge the same on second side, but

DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Turn.


Next Row - With WS facing work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc,

3sc in last sc, work 1sc in next row end, 1sc in each chain along cast on edge, 1sc in row end, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc to end, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in row end, work 1sc in each sc to end, work 1sc in row end, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.


Tea Cosy - With 4.50mm hook and main color yarn ch28, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS) 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (27sc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end.

Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to

end. Turn. Rpt last row twice in main color. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in contrast color. Turn.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 40 rows have been worked, join in main

color and work one more row, making 41sc rows in all.


Next Row - (Space for Handle) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next 5sc, ch15, skip

15sc, work 1sc in each of next 6sc. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 5sc, work 15sc in 15ch space,

1sc in each of next 6sc. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end.

Turn. Fasten off.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 36 more sc rows have been worked, making 77sc rows in all.


Space for spout - With WS facing, sl st first 3 cast on chain’s and 3sc from last contrast color row you just worked together, fasten off, skip 22sc, sl st last 3 cast on chain’s and

3sc from last contrast color row to make a circle. Fasten off.


Tea Cosy Edging - With WS facing, using 4.00mm hook, main color yarn and

working through both loops, starting with ch1, work 1sc in main color row ends to end

of row, sl st to first sc. Turn. (60sc) Work two more rows of sc, sl st and turning at the end

of each row. Fasten off. With WS facing work three rows of sc in the same way on opposite side of row ends in main color, leave length of yarn to gather with. Fasten off. Sew in and

tie off ends. Gather top with length of yarn left earlier. Make medium size pom-pom with clover Pom-Pom Maker in contrast color and attach to top of cosy.
