Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in White (001) main

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in  Blush (233) contrast

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


TENSION - 10dc and 9 rows of dc measures approx 2“ x 2“ (5cm x 5cm)

Placemat - With 4.50mm hook and main colour yarn make 48ch, change to 4.00mm

hook, (RS) 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (47dc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc

to end. Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main colour yarn, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each

dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice in main colour. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in contrast colour. Turn.


The last four rows form the pattern colour sequence, rpt Patterns Rows as set in

sequence until 80 rows have been worked in all, work three more dc rows in main colour making 83 rows in all. DNT.


Placemat Edging - With RS facing using 4.00mm hook, main colour and working down

side of placemat into row ends, work 1ch, 1dc into each main colour row end to corner.

Turn. (63dc) Starting with 1ch and working through both loops of stitch from now on,

work two more rows of 1dc into each dc on these stitches turning at the end of each row. Fasten off. Rejoin main colour yarn on corner, rpt edge the same on second side.

DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Turn.


Next Row – With WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to last dc,

3dc into last dc, work 1dc into next row end, 1dc into each chain along cast on edge,

1dc into row end, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc to end, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into

row end, work 1dc into each dc to end, work 1dc into row end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.


Coaster - With 4.50mm hook and main colour yarn make 18ch, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS) 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (17dc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to

end. Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main colour yarn, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc

to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice in main colour. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in

contrast colour. Turn.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 24 rows have been worked in all, work three more dc rows in main colour making 27 rows in all. DNT.


Coaster Edging - With RS facing using 4.00mm hook, main colour and working down

side of placemat into row ends, work 1ch, 1dc into each main colour row end to corner.

Turn. (21dc) Starting with 1ch and working through both loops of stitch from now on, work

two more rows of 1dc into each dc on these stitches turning at the end of each row.

Fasten off. Rejoin main colour yarn on corner, rpt edge the same on second side, but

DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Turn.


Next Row – With WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to last dc,

3dc into last dc, work 1dc into next row end, 1dc into each chain along cast on edge, 1dc

into row end, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc to end, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into row end, work 1dc into each dc to end, work 1dc into row end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Tea Cosy - With 4.50mm hook and main colour yarn make 28ch, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS) 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (27dc)


Work through back loop of stitch throughout.


Next Row - Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to

end. Turn. Fasten off.


Pattern Rows - With main colour yarn, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each

dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice in main colour. Turn. Fasten off. Rpt last row once in contrast colour. Turn.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 40 rows have been worked, join in main

colour and work one more row, making 41dc rows in all.


Next Row - (Space for Handle) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 5dc, make 15ch, miss 15dc, work 1dc into each of next 6dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 5dc, work 15dc into 15ch space, 1dc into each of next 6dc. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to

end. Turn. Fasten off.


Rpt Patterns Rows as set in sequence until 36 more dc rows have been worked, making 77dc rows in all.


Space for spout - With WS facing, ss first 3 cast on chain’s and 3dc from last contrast colour row you just worked together, fasten off, miss 22dc, ss last 3 cast on chain’s and

3dc from last contrast colour row to make a circle. Fasten off.


Tea Cosy Edging - With WS facing, using 4.00mm hook, main colour yarn and working through both loops, starting with 1ch, work 1dc into main colour row ends to end of row,

ss to first dc. Turn. (60dc) Work two more rows of dc, ss and turning at the end of each

row. Fasten off. With WS facing work three rows of dc in the same way on opposite side

of row ends in main colour, leave length of yarn to gather with. Fasten off. Sew in and tie

off ends. Gather top with length of yarn left earlier. Make medium size pom-pom with clover Pom-Pom Maker in contrast colour and attach to top of cosy.
