5.00mm, 4.50mm & 3.50mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 5sc and 4 rows of sc measures approx 1 inch square

Potholder (make 2 pieces the same) - Using 5.00mm hook and main color, ch36, change to 4.50mm hook, work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (35sc)

Pattern Row - ch1, 1sc in front loop of sc in base of ch1, * 1sc in back loop of next sc,
1sc in front loop of next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

The last row forms the pattern rpt row 32 more times, making 34 rows in all or work measures approx 8” from beginning. Turn.

Edging - Working through both pieces of pot holder throughout and using 3.50mm hook ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, working in row ends down first side of potholder, work 33sc evenly along to next corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge to corner, 3sc in corner, working in row ends up second side of potholder, work 33sc evenly along to next corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Next  Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around all four sides of potholder, working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Next  Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to first corner, 1sc in corner, ch8,
1sc in same corner, work 1sc in each sc around remaining three sides working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Turn. Fasten off.

Next  Row - Join in contrast color, ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around all four sides of potholder, working 3sc in corners and 10sc in 8ch space, sl st to first sc.
Fasten off.

Motif - With 4.00mm hook and main color, ch6, sl st to first ch to make a ring, ch1, work
8sc in ring, sl st to first sc. Turn. Fasten off.

Next Row - (Petals) Join in contrast color yarn, * ch7, 1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1hdc in
each ch to end (5hdc + 2ch) sl st to next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sc.
Fasten off. ( 8 Petals)

Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn on motif. Attach motif to corner opposite 8ch loop, sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn on potholder.
