GAUGE - 4dc and 2 rows of dc's measures approx 1 Inch

Beanie - Made in continues rounds without turning to 13th Row.

Using color 1 make a magic circle, with 4.50mm hook ch3, work 14dc in ring, pull loose thread to close circle, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (14dc)

2nd Row - (Inc) ch3, 2dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (28dc)

3rd Row - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (42dc)

4th Row - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (56dc)

5th Row - (Inc) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (70dc)

Working in back loop of stitch from now on work as follows:-

Row 2 - ch1, skip 2 slip stitches, work 1sc in each of next 6sc. Turn.

Rpt Rows 2 & 3 around beanie to end, working through both thicknesses sl st together cast on edge and last row worked to close the round.

Star Appliquè - With 4.50mm hook and color 2 make a magic circle, ch1, 12sc in circle, pull loose thread to close circle, sl st to first sc. Turn. (12sc)

Round 2 - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 2sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (24sc)

Round 3 - ch3, * (1dc, ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook, 2dc) in first stitch, skip 1sc, * sl st in next sc, skip 1sc, (2dc, ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook, 2dc) in next sc, skip 1sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, sl st in next sc, skip 1sc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. Fasten. (6 points)

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach star appliquè above the rib on the side of the hat.
