Materials

40 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Colour 1

Small amount of King Cole big value baby DK in Colour 2

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION - 4tr and 2 rows of tr's measures approx 1 Inch

Beanie - Made in continues rounds without turning to 13th Row.

Using colour 1 make a magic circle, with 4.50mm hook make 3ch, work 14tr into ring, pull loose thread to close circle, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (14tr)

2nd Row - (Inc) 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (28tr)

3rd Row - (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into next tr, * 1tr into next tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (42tr)

4th Row - (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, 2tr into next tr, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (56tr)

5th Row - (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, 2tr into next tr, * 1tr into each of next 3tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (70tr)

6-13th Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row.

Turn at the end of 13th Row

Rib - Make 7ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to each of next 2tr on beanie. Turn. (6dc)

Working into back loop of stitch from now on work as follows:-

Row 2 - 1ch, miss 2 slip stitches, work 1dc into each of next 6dc. Turn.

Row 3 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 5dc to end, ss to each of the next 2tr on beanie. Turn.

Rpt Rows 2 & 3 around beanie to end, working through both thicknesses ss together cast on edge and last row worked to close the round.

Star Appliquè - With 4.50mm hook and colour 2 make a magic circle, work 1ch, 12dc into circle, pull loose thread to close circle, ss to first dc. Turn. (12dc)

Round 2 - 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, 2dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn. (24dc)

Round 3 - 3ch, * (1tr, 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, 2tr) into first stitch, miss 1dc, * ss into next dc, miss 1dc, (2tr, 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, 2tr) into next dc, miss 1dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, ss into next dc, miss 1dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten. (6 points)

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach star appliquè above the rib on the side of the hat.
